Space for the care bed: as large as necessary!

What should your care bed be able to do? First of all, find a generous amount of space in the room! Enough to move it to another room at home through the door frame. Or to move in order to wipe underneath without effort. The best reason, however, to plan enough space around the care bed is to minimize the risk of injury and risks for the resident and to promote mobility and independence. Which is why a care bed, not least for home care itself, should be accessible from (at least) three sides - and allow helpers such as bedside tables, walking aids, wheelchairs, toilet stools and IV stands to be positioned near the bed. Because in everyday life for those in need of care, everything revolves around the bed. It should therefore be a matter of course that bed users do not adapt to the smallest possible bed dimensions, but rather need a care bed that is tailored to their needs!
The lying area makes the bed, from standard to generous

The health situation and sleeper comfort determine the size of the nursing care beds: The most common are the lying areas measuring 80 cm wide and 200 cm long, with 90 cm x 200 cm being the standard - at Burmeier and elsewhere. Like the popular Burmeier Dali care bed or Dali II Low Entry bed, which has overall dimensions of 101 cm x 212 cm. Other care beds and bed inserts are available with a lying surface width of 100 cm - such as the Allura II 100, Inovia care bed, Lippe IV, Regia or Westfalia IV bed frame. Allura II 120, Gigant and Lippe 120 offer a total of 120 cm. With the Relax senior bed, you can even use a 140 cm lying surface.

Insert frame Lippe: make it fit on the previous bed

Insert frame for the Lippe IV care bed system with height adjustment turns the familiar bed into a stand-up aid and transforms it into a fully functional care bed with an electrically adjustable, four-part lying surface. Its external dimensions are each 5 cm below the dimensions of the lying surface. The bed insert can be individually adjusted to different widths. Optional extension rails of 5 cm on each side enlarge the lying surface of the Lippe IV, whose basic dimensions are 80 cm, 90 cm or 100 cm - by a total of 10 cm each. Also optional: adaptable feet to increase the bed insert by 7 cm. The Lippe 120/140 (200 cm long) offers particularly wide lying surface dimensions, which can be increased by an additional 20 cm by extending the bed. Thanks to the space-saving base frame, every Lippe model fits into almost every bed - so nothing disturbs the familiar bedroom ambience.

Special solutions: low bed, with bed rail, insert bedsore mattress

Low beds and low-floor beds make it possible to dispense with custodial measures (FEM) such as bed rails - for example for people with dementia. Nursing beds that prevent falls as they can be lowered close to the floor - up to 25 cm above the floor or less. Where appropriate, telescopic bed side rails with a protective height of 38 cm provide security, divided or continuous - as with the Regia EasySwitch care bed. Due to their dimensions, many care beds also allow bedsore mattresses up to a thickness of 15 cm or more to be inserted. When using very high mattresses, the safety sides can be increased by means of an attachable bar.

Care beds for heavy and tall people

Care beds are not just beds for senior citizens. But the solution for everyone who needs support - also for children, people of short stature or people with obesity. So-called heavy-duty beds of large dimensions are particularly stable. Their generous lying areas offer obese patients enough space and comfort - in length, width and function, including the care bed mattress in suitable dimensions. The Gigant care bed by Burmeier is such a bed: with a lying surface of 120 x 200 cm and an external dimension of 135 x 222 cm, the resilient Gigant offers a lot of space and can be extended by 20 cm if desired. A bed extension usually makes sense for people over 1.90 meters. Did you know? The Burmeier Regia and Inovia beds with telescopic safety sides can even be extended to 227 cm. More comfort across the board? Burmeier has models that are 100 cm, 120 cm or even 140 cm wide.
