Game of Thrones disappointment: New episode delayed

"The Winds of Winter is not finished," regrets author George R.R. Martin in his fan blog.

The new book for the hit series "Game of Thrones" has been delayed. "The Winds of Winter is not finished," said the author George R.R. Martin in his fan blog. "You are disappointed and you are not the only ones. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and overseas publishers and translators are disappointed ... but no one could be more disappointed than me." The trailer made you want more.

Until the end of the year

Martin had hoped to deliver the manuscript to his publisher by the end of the year so that the sixth episode of the globally successful fantasy saga "A Song of Ice and Fire" could be printed at the beginning of the new year. The author had already missed an earlier deadline at the end of October. According to Martin, the book "most likely" won't be released until the sixth season of "Game of Thrones" airs on HBO in April.

The television series is based on Martin's books. The author did not rule out that the series will be ahead of the books for the first time this year. "For years my readers were ahead of the audience. This year the opposite will be true in parts. How you want to deal with it ... hey, I'll leave that to you," wrote Martin. The book author did not want to commit to a new publication date. "Deadlines just stress me out," he confessed.
